Archie Green is a true visionary. He truly subscribes to the statement, “if you dream it, you can achieve it.” The Cleveland, OH native is a multi-hyphenate who first garnered national acclaim as a rapper with twenty-plus years under his belt, coupled with a business acumen he picked up while attending Morehouse College and eventually New York University, earning a Masters’ in Music Business. Archie is most known for his advocacy for mental health, having himself been diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. His introspective single, “Layers,” which premiered at VICE.com in 2016, garnered over 25,000 streams in 2 weeks. This inspired Green to subsequently found Peel Dem Layers Back, a Cleveland-based 501(c)3 to promote mental health awareness through a Hip-Hop lens, focusing on Black men and boys.
Archie recently joined NAMI as the Manager of BIPOC Male Mental Health, a newly created position in February of 2023. Prior to joining NAMI National, Archie served as the Support and Education Coordinator for NAMI Greater Cleveland and later as a consultant and strategist for NAMI National, leading the Black Male Mental Health initiative under NAMI’s Sharing Hope hub. In this new role, Archie is responsible for outreach and expansion to BIPOC male mental health utilizing innovative approaches.
Green has been the recipient of numerous awards for his work as a Mental Health Advocate including the Gallant Gentleman Award for Mental Health from Alpha Kappa Alpha's Linking Partnership Opportunities, Cleveland Magazine's Most Interesting People Class of 2018, the 2020 Rising Star Award from the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, and the 2023 Peer Of The Year Award from Eustress, Inc. Archie has also been featured on various national publications including Black Enterprise, Yahoo! News, Associated Press and Blavity, and featured as the top 25 inspirational people and organizations in The Guardian’s City Champions series'.
Currently, Archie serves as the CEO of Peel Dem Layers Back. He is also the Manager of BIPOC Male Mental Health at NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). He and his lovely wife, Niké, currently reside in Los Angeles, CA.
